Consider animal routes, sunlight and obstructions.

Choose a route, water source or feeding area suited to your purpose. Face north or south where practical to reduce sunrise and sunset glare.

  • Deer-sized wildlife: start around 0.9–1.2m high.
  • Small animals: consider 0.3–0.6m.
  • Entrances: consider 1.5–1.8m with a downward angle.

Look diagonally along the route and clear major vegetation about 1.5–3m in front. Secure the camera, then refine its position with Motion Test and sample captures.
