Below 0°C, battery performance can drop substantially.
Cold can shorten battery life, weaken infrared illumination and cause intermittent captures. Check batteries before cold weather and consider lithium cells where the model permits them.
A capture delay of at least one minute can give batteries recovery time.
Compare indoors
Run the camera indoors for several hours and check power, flash and triggering. Improvement in warmth can indicate a cold-related power problem.
